5th grade and Stop Motion

Fifth graders worked on creating stop motion animation projects over the past few weeks.  They used cameras and software from Animate It or the iPad app iStop to complete this project.  They worked in teams and decided first on what their project was going to do and what they were going to use for the characters and background.  Some students chose Legos, some chose clay, and others used toys from home.  The Animate It kits came with build your own creature toys and so many students got creative with those.  They learned how long it takes to capture an object's movements with this type of media.  They had tenacity to see the whole project through.  Most of the students agreed that they would like to make a longer film next time.  The final day they set up their projects and left a comment card next to their computer or iPad.  They walked around, looked at each others' projects, and left positive comments to each other.  I'm so glad they got a touch of this type of animation and I hope they continue making creative projects in the future!
